Despite Economic Ups and Downs and a Competitive Market, Alpha Metal Finishing Keeps Loyal Customers Through Exceptional Quality and Service

Alpha Metal Finishing, a 34 year old anodizing company, remains viable in a struggling Michigan economy by staying true to its core values of quality, delivery and an exceptional customer experience.

Tucked away on a side street in Dexter, MI is Alpha Metal Finishing Company. Although not as visible as a store front business, this 34-year-old anodizing and chromate conversion business has endured the ups and downs of the economy and the throes of a competitive market. But the business just didn’t rise up out of the dust -- it took the imagination, skill and drive of an entrepreneur: Bob Wood.

Bob Wood, President of Alpha Metal FinishingWood, 70, started Alpha Metal Finishing Company on a loan from a family member in 1976 and put his engineering background and skill set to work. In the early days of his entrepreneurial journey, Wood quickly identified that technology was only part of the business. What would drive the business from the beginning, and sustain it, was by providing quality product with timely delivery. And, the backbone to these core values is, and always has been, an exceptional customer experience.

“Over the years, we have won the trust and loyalty of our customers because of our core values,” Wood said. “Never losing sight of what put us on this journey is what drives the business today. I am grateful to our customers who have remained loyal all these years,” Wood adds. “The future is bright because Alpha Metal will continue to push forward despite the economy.”
