Finish It Right From The Beginning

Consistent Cosmetic Finish

An inherent challenge with the anodizing process is that it cannot "cover up" imperfections in the substrate or remove scratches, extrusion lines, variations in bead blasting, etc.

Challenge:

Achieving a cosmetic finish and maintaining tolerance for parts with the regular caustic etch process created variations in the finish and made it difficult to manage the overall results.

Action:
Alpha implemented a new acid etch process and began offering the option to customers looking for a finish that can hide machine marks, extrusion lines, scratches or other substrate imperfections.

Result:
Acid etch processed parts provide a very appealing matte finish to customers that maintains tolerance.
